MODERN ART POTTERY
handcrafted for everyday use
April DeConick is an abstract expressionist who creates functional and sculptural ceramics with an organic modern flare and urban vibe. Her work is a contemporary take on minimalistic modern design, featuring organic geometric shapes and vibrant color. Her pieces blur the line between functionality and fine art. Currently, she is creating a body of work that probe the politics of women’s bodies called “Woman is the Complete Circle.”
She is a specialist in underglaze painting and monoprinting techniques. She paints her designs onto the surfaces of her handbuilt forms so that each piece is an original work of art. She uses a stoneware and porcelain clay mix which she glazes and fires at mid-range.
All vessels are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Each of these vessels was hand-built and painted by the artist so that each item is a unique work of art to enjoy everyday.
